Los Angeles – Consul General Edgar B. Badajos welcomed Ms. Carmelita T. Raquiza, Welfare Officer, on 08 September 2022 to the Philippine Consulate in Los Angeles.

Welfare Officer Carmelita T. Raquiza will assist in handling complaints and dispute cases which are inherently labor in nature as well as providing welfare assistance such as in cases of medical problems, non-performance of family obligations, ascertaining whereabouts, runaways, and other similar grievances of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in the West Coast of USA.  POLO-LA’s jurisdictions include Alaska, American Samoa, Arizona, California, Colorado, Guam, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.

Hereinafter, Welfare Officer Raquiza will assist in closely coordinating with, and refer to the Philippine Consulate’s Assistance to National Section (ATN), all matters involving criminal offenses and violations committed against the workers with the end view of more fully protecting OFW’s rights in the West Coast of the USA.

Welfare Officer Raquiza, during the call to the Consul General, also shared that she has opened the Facebook Page of POLO Los Angeles, to keep an informed general public and Filipino community in the West Coast of USA and provide them with timely important public service announcements and labor updates of POLO and OWWA.

Prior to her posting in Los Angeles, Welfare Officer Carmelita T. Raquiza was assigned in Taiwan, Jordan, and Tokyo, Japan.
